So as you can see, I kinda sank into a long spell of inactivity, and if you care to hear, I'll recap a bit of what I was doing.
One of the reasons I fell out of the internet was job searching. And by job searching, I mean trying a few times, giving up, and not touching the internet for a while. You see, I'm fairly thin-skinned, and when I get rejection or dead silence, it really affects me. Granted I'm trying to thicken that skin since that's what happens in the creative world. It's a work in progress.
And a reason that I came back to look at DA again is because I've got a possibility of a job offer. And feeling accomplished and deserving of reward, I have returned!
So in the months I was gone, I found a few things to grab my creative attention. Let's start out with a timeline.
Sometime in the end of 2017 I met a charming customer and I always enjoyed chatting with him over the few seconds of interaction we could have while going through the fast-paced take-order/give-order cycle that is fast food. One day I was off around the time he got his food and we chatted. Turns out he's creative, funny, and perfect friend material. Over some time after we exchanged numbers and started hanging out and I in turn met his friends.
Here's where the video games come to play. One of my new friends, we'll call him D, showed me this mobile game he was playing: Fire Emblem Heroes. One character stood out to me, not only in cuteness and white hair, but when his lines of dialogue emerged I had I sudden realization: this was fictional husband. Some of you might recognize this character as
Henry
It took a while, but D eventually lent me Fire Emblem Awakening and I loved it. (Too bad I didn't know that Chrom had to be married by chapter 11 or else I would have had my husband!!)
Anywho, that started me into Fates and Shadows of Valentia and I found my brother's old copy of Shadow Dragon. I have now joined the ranks of Fire Emblem trash. (welcome me into your clique, Gablade!)
At this time my customer friend, we'll call him C, was starting to play Dangan Ronpa (and he has some of the best reactions, I tell ya. Nekomaru was his favorite and the rage that came from him when chapter 4 hit was amusing to watch
) and he mentioned that there was this weird wanna-be Dangan Ronpa game called Zero Escape. And it just so happens when I looked for them, they were super cheap at my Game Stop. So I played through Zero Escape Virtue's Last Reward and Zero Time Dilemma and I really loved the characters and the plot(twists)
(Junpei is best protag).
And in the discovery of Fire Emblem and Zero Escape, I'm finding less and less need to go to Pokémon for future nuzlockes... if only because there's character death built into more mature games out there. Maybe I'm just getting old. I dunno.
So, in my absence I have learned some things, maybe gained a boyfriend in C
, and have high hopes of getting out of the same job that's been draining 7 years of my life. I have a irl friend group for the first time in know knows how long and creativity has slowly been returning to me. I can't promise art anytime soon, but I assure you the passion has not disappeared.
Hope you enjoyed that rant about my life and video game exploration... or not.
